It’s really simple. Just stay connected and pay your DStv account on time. These new rewards are over and above the week of free sports some of our packages have already been enjoying through the DStv Thanks program.

The rewards are available for all active DStv Premium, Compact+, Compact, Family and Access customers.


Stay connected.

All DStv customers have a unique start date, this is the day that you activated your subscription. So, make sure you know when this date is every month and pay on or before this date to automatically qualify for the rewards on offer for that month. Rewards will be allocated within three working days after payment.

What is DStv Thanks?

DStv Thanks is a rewards programme aimed at rewarding and thanking DStv customers for their continuous loyalty and support for the brand.

Why did MultiChoice Africa launch the “DStv Thanks” programme?

MultiChoice constantly looks for ways to improve and to create more value for our customers - the rewards programme is one of the ways the company seeks to reward and show appreciation to DStv customers for their continuous loyalty and support for our business.

What are the NEW rewards on offer for customers under DStv Thanks?

All ACTIVE DStv Access, Family, Compact, Compact+ and Premium customers who pay their subscriptions ON time – or before their due date - will now also be eligible for discounts on different product categories, such as flights, electronics, fast food, cinema tickets, groceries.

There are multiple discounts available to my package. Does that mean I will have to choose only one?

No – should you qualify for the discount rewards, you will be eligible for ALL the discounts available to your package.

I’m on DStv Compact/Family/Access package – why can’t a get the Emirates discount rewards?

The rewards have been allocated according to the packages tier customers are on. The higher the package, the greater the discount offer (E.g.: DStv Premium and Compact+ customers will get higher-cost rewards like Emirates discounts while Compact, Family & Access will be rewarded with discounts to cinema tickets, groceries, etc.)

What do I need to do to be eligible for the [Insert name of premium reward] discount rewards?

You simply need to upgrade to Premium/Compact+ and keep paying on time to be eligible for the discount.

Why do the rewards differ per country?

Benefit Partners differ per country, based on what's available in-country and which brands and/or organisations have partnered with Multichoice to offer rewards to our customers. Based on your valued feedback we are constantly seeking opportunities to evolve our program to add value to all our customers, there will continuously be new exciting benefits coming your way. What happens if I miss my payment date/ I’m disconnected?

Unfortunately, once you disconnect or miss a payment before your due date, you will no longer be eligible to receive the new rewards with external partners. You will need to reconnect and pay on time to enjoy again the rewards of DStv Thanks. 

How will I be able to regain access to the rewards once I have missed my payment date?

You will not be allocated any vouchers if you do meet the pay on time requirement. DStv Customers will need to be connected and pay the active subscription on time before the next due date for them to be rewarded with access to the rewards. If you have vouchers from a previous month for meeting the requirement, they may still work if they are still valid. Check if your vouchers are still valid online by visiting www.dstvafrica.com/earn/dstv-thanks.

Who is not eligible to receive the reward?

Customers who have not paid on time as well as DStv Commercial/Business customers, VIPs and Shareholders.

Is there a selection process in selecting customers who are eligible for the discount?

Yes. A selection system will be used to identify eligible customers for the discount and sports upgrade rewards. These will be customers who have paid their DStv account on time.

How will the customer know that their rewards have been activated?

Eligible customers will get one SMS will be sent to notify customers that they can access the new discount rewards by logging in on www.dstv.com/thanks and login using your surname/mobile number to access your voucher codes. Please make sure you update your contact details on your account, so we can contact you should you qualify for a reward.

How long will each discount voucher be valid for?

Each voucher will be valid for a specific period (usually 30 days) based on the agreement with the Benefit Provider. This information will be available on the T's and C's on the voucher. You can check the T's and C's on the DStv Thanks website.

Is it possible to qualify for more than one discount voucher in a month?

Yes – each eligible customer can qualify more than one discount voucher as per the availability on their package.

What if I have more than one DStv subscription under my name?

Whichever smartcard number a customer has registered, and it meets the criteria for the discount voucher benefit, will receive it. Therefore, if the customer has multiple smartcards registered under their name and they qualify to receive the discount benefit on more than one smartcard – they will receive multiple discount vouchers rewards.

Can I use those multiple vouchers from the same supplier to get a bigger discount when I make my purchase?

No, unfortunately not, redemptions are limited to one voucher per transaction.

What do I do if the rewards aren’t activated even though I qualify for the benefit?

Please use the following options to get the necessary assistance:

  • Contact the MultiChoice call centre
  • Contact a local DStv agent
  • Visit your nearest MultiChoice branch

I tried to redeem my voucher, but it didn’t work.

Please check that the voucher is valid, details of expiry should have been communicated in the T's and C's of the voucher. If the voucher is still valid, please phone our contact centre for further assistance. The customer centre agent/representative will also verify if your voucher is valid.

Can I give my voucher reward to someone else?

Yes, you may give your voucher to another person, but remember that each voucher is for single use only. However note that some benefits are not transferable.


About the One Week of Sports upgrade:

What about the current rewards of the One Week of extra sports – will that still be available?

Yes – the new rewards will form part of the current DStv Thanks reward of One Week of Extra Sports from higher-tier package that is currently available to All ACTIVE DStv Access, Family, Compact, Compact+ customers who pay their subscriptions ON time – or before their due date. They will continue to be eligible for a complimentary upgrade to a higher-tier sports channels for one week:

  • DStv Access and DStv Family customers will be upgraded to DStv Compact Sports channels
  • DStv Compact and DStv Compact+ customers will be upgraded to DStv Premium Sports channels

What happens once the One Week of complimentary sports channels ends?

Your package will revert to your current package’s sport channels. Should you wish to enjoy the sports channels for longer, you will need to upgrade to the higher package or continue to pay on time to enjoy a week of your reward each month.

Will customers on different bouquets access the same Sports channels Or, is there channel selection criteria per bouquet?

DStv Access or DStv Family will automatically get access to DStv Compact sports channels for one week while DStv Compact or DStv Compact+ will be automatically get access to DStv Premium sports channels for one week after making their account payment on time or before their due date.

What so special about sports channels on Compact and Premium?

DStv Compact offers customers access to the best football leagues in the world – The Premier League and La Liga while DStv Premium delivers a total sports experience through multiple HD capable sports channels  to enjoy a wide variety of sport including: Rugby: Vodacom Super Rugby; Sevens World Series, Cycling: Tour de France, UCI Track Champs, Cape Epic; Golf: PGA Tour, European Tour and Sunshine Tour; Tennis: All the Majors, ATP Tour, WTA Tour; Athletics: World Indoor Championships, Major marathons; Cricket: ICC World T20, IPL, SA/ England/ India; Motorsport: F1, Superbikes, MotoGP, NASCAR, IndyCar along with the best International Boxing tournaments in the world.

DStv Compact and Compact+ customers who continue to pay on time will also get an opportunity to watch the UEFA Euro 2020 Championship, UEFA Euro 2020 Qualifiers, European qualifiers for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar and more exciting football events on DStv through their ONE WEEK rewards.

Why is the complimentary upgrade only for a week?

This offer is designed to give active DStv customers an opportunity to view and enjoy sports channels and content they do not normally have access to and to get a taste of the exciting wide variety of entertainment available on other DStv packages.

Is the complimentary sports channels upgrade a calendar week?

No - the automatic upgrade will be available to customers for ONLY 7 days from the day it was opened after their payment has been made.

What will happen to my package once the complimentary week’s viewing ends?

Once the complimentary week’s upgraded viewing to sports channels comes to an end, you will automatically return to your original DStv package’s sports channels.

I have Xtra view in my house, can I watch the upgrade package on that decoder too?

No, the benefit of upgraded package will only be available to your primary decoder.

Will I have to pay extra to watch the sports channels?

No. These extra sports channels will be available at no extra cost to your existing DStv subscription.

This sounds too good to be true. Is MultiChoice planning to add some hidden additional costs to cover these sports channels later?

No.  MultiChoice is opening these sports channels to add further value to our customers and we will continue to look for ways to improve the way customers experience our business.

What adjustments will I have to make to my decoder to have access to the sport channels?

No decoder adjustments are necessary. The sports channels will automatically be added and will be available to you

Not too long ago, you had extra TV channels as part of the DStv Thanks Reward. Does that mean you’re no longer going to bring back the extra TV channels as part of the rewards?

No – our strategy is to keep refreshing the rewards to keep the offers relevant for our customers. Going forward, customers will start getting rewards that add more value to their lifestyles as part of the DStv Thanks programme.

Will the rewards change from time to time or are these the only ones been offered?
